Originally an apprenticeship and vocational training center, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, also known as NAIT, was established in 1962 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In addition, apart from degrees, the college offers training, apprenticeship, and credit programs. With its first class consisting of 29 students, the college educates over 15,000 students today. Moreover, the institute hosted its first graduating class in 1965. Furthermore, the institute inaugurated its four-year baccalaureate programs in 2007.

Accepting admissions from Canada and internationally, the university has an acceptance rate of 58%, making it a slightly selective institute.
