Ravensbourne came into being in 1962 by uniting the Bromley School of Art, Sidcup School of Art, and Beckenham School of Art. It began in Bromley Common and eventually moved to Chislehurst and the Greenwich Peninsula in Inner London, where a new campus became operational in the fall of 2010. The River Ravensbourne, which runs from Bromley Common to Greenwich, brought about the college's name.
