Formed in August 2008 by a merger between Sydväst Polytechnic and the Swedish Polytechnic, Novia University of Applied Sciences (Yrkeshögskolan Novia) is a higher professional education institution in Vaasa, Finland. The 5 campuses of Novia University of Applied Sciences are Vaasa, Turku, Raseborg, and Jakobstad. Novia UAS is the largest Swedish-speaking university with about 4,000 students and 360 academic staff. The university has recognition from the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland and has been awarded a quality management certificate by the Finnish Education Evaluation Center (FINEEC).

Novia Programs include 42 postgraduate and undergraduate programs in five faculties. Study areas include Arts and Culture, Bioeconomy, Health and Welfare, Business, Technology, and Seafaring.
