Eligibility criteria

Eligibility Criteria for International Students: Nationality: Must be a citizen of one of the countries that maintain diplomatic relations with Switzerland (over 180 countries). Academic Degree: For Research/PhD Scholarships: Must hold a Master's degree (or equivalent university degree) by the time the scholarship starts (e.g., by July 31, 2025, for a September 2025 start). For Arts Master's Scholarships: Must hold a Bachelor's degree in an artistic field. Note: For Arts Master's, specific country reciprocity agreements apply, meaning not all nationalities are eligible. Age Limit: For PhD/Research, generally born after December 31, 1989 (for the 2025/2026 academic year). Residency: Must not have been in Switzerland for more than one year at the beginning of the scholarship (September 2025). Host Professor: For Research, PhD, and Postdoc scholarships, a mandatory letter from a UZH professor confirming their willingness to supervise your project is required. Language Proficiency: Sufficient language skills for the chosen program/research (often English or German, depending on the field).
